Locating your RTMP key and URL
When live streaming to Splash Studio, there are two things you need:
- RTMP URL - This is the link to the platform you're broadcasting to, i.e. Splash Studio.
- RTMP Key - This is unique code that lets your streaming provider know where to broadcast to.
To locate these within Splash Studio:
- Click on the Virtual Event Page touchpoint.
- Click on Splash Studio Embed from the Layout tab on the right.
- Click Embed Options.
- Click the copy icon next to the RTMP key and RTMP URL.
Most streaming tools — like Vimeo Livestream, Wirecast, and Crowdcast — have RTMP Output fields for stream key and stream URL. Paste this information into those fields.
Note: Keep your stream key and URL private. Sharing this information allows someone else to stream to your event. |
Hosting the live event
When live streaming to Splash Studio it's important to staff accordingly. There are two main roles to account for:
- The Producer: An individual who will operate in your streaming tool. The Producer will go live on the day of the event and monitor the video and audio production.
- The Host: An individual who will operate in Splash Studio. The Host will monitor Splash Studio's engagement tools, like chat, Q&A, and Networking Circles.
The Host will use Splash Studio's Hosting Link to enter the event. To locate the Hosting Link:
- Click on the Virtual Event Page touchpoint.
- Click Hosting Link in the upper-right corner.
- Copy the link.
- Copy the Host code.
A Host's responsibilities might include:
- Monitoring the event chat: This can include responding to chats, pinning important chats, or blocking users from submitting chats.
- Moderating Q&A: Hosts can approve questions before they are displayed to the audience, respond to questions with inline text, and mark questions as answered.
- Launching polls: Hosts can queue, open, and close polls over the course of the event.
- Activate networking: Hosts can activate networking from Splash Studio's greenroom before, during, or after the live event.
