Add a cancel button to your emails
Adding a cancel button to your emails allows guests to cancel their registration without having to contact you.
To add a cancel button to your emails:
- Click the Email tab.
- Select your email.
- Under Email Layout, click the + button.
- Click Cancel RSVP.
- Style the button to your liking.
- Click Save.
Pro Tip: Splash recommends adding a cancel button to your confirmation and reminder emails. For events where seating is limited, send an email a day or two in advance to ask guests to cancel if they won’t be able to make it. |
If you’d like to change an existing button to a cancel button, follow these steps:
- Click the Email tab.
- Select your email.
- Click the button you’d like to change within the Email Layout.
- Open Button Settings.
- In the URL field enter [cancel_RSVP].
- Click Save.
Note: Button text can be changed within the Button Settings tab. |
Test the cancellation experience
When guests click the cancel button, they’ll land on a Splash page with two options: Return to Event and Cancel RSVP.
Clicking Yes, Cancel RSVP will display an on-page confirmation message confirming registration has been canceled.
Guests only receive an on-page confirmation for their cancellation and won’t receive an email confirmation.
Note: The Cancel Registration screen cannot be customized. |
To test the cancellation process, you’ll need to submit a test RSVP and send yourself an email with the cancel button included.
Follow these steps:
- RSVP Yes to your event.
- Send yourself an email with the cancel button included.
- Open the email and click the Cancel RSVP button.
- Click Yes, Cancel RSVP.
Guests must have an Attending or Waitlisted status for the cancel button to work.
If a guest is listed as No Status or Not Attending and clicks a cancel button, they’ll receive the following message.
Manage cancellations in your guest list
All canceled registrations are tracked in your guest list.
When guests cancel, their status is updated to Not Attending and they’re automatically added to a Canceled list. The Canceled list can be found on the left-hand side of your guest list.
To reverse a guest’s cancellation, update the guest’s status directly within your guest list.
The guest will remain on the Canceled list, but can be removed by following these steps:
- Click on the Guests tab.
- Click on the guest.
- Hover over the Canceled list.
- Click the X icon to remove the guest from the list.
