Fee breakdown
Once you create a new ticket type, you’ll see a breakdown of the associated ticket fees. There are two parts: a Splash service and Stripe processing fee.
Keep reading to learn more about how Splash and Stripe calculate their fees.
Note: There are no ticket fees associated with free — $0.00 value — tickets. |
Splash service fees
Splash’s service fee is 1.6% + $0.49 per ticket.
For paid Splash plans, Splash’s service fee is 1.25% + $0.49 per ticket.
Note: If a discount code is applied to a ticket, then the Splash service fee will be based on the amount of the discounted ticket price. |
Stripe processing fees
The default Splash merchant fee is 2.9% + .30 cents per USD transaction. This is known as the payment processing fee, which Splash does not have any control over.
There’s an additional 1.5% and 1% for currency conversion for non-USD transactions (multi-currency ticketing is currently in Limited Availability).
Merchants who surpass $100k a year in sales via Stripe are eligible for discounts. Reach out to Stripe for more information.
Note: Any organizer that previously negotiated fees with Stripe for their merchant account, and has connected that account to their Splash page, will be charged the negotiated fees. |
Total fee breakdown example
For free Splash accounts, the total breakdown of ticket fees typically* comes out to:
- 1.6% in Splash service charge fees
- $0.49 per ticket for Splash operational charges
- Stripe processing fee for USD transactions: 2.9% + .30 cents
- Stripe processing fee for non-USD transactions: an additional 1.5% and 1% for currency conversion (multi-currency ticketing is currently in Limited Availability)
*Stripe processing fees can be negotiated directly with Stripe.
Here’s an example of how the fees work for a $10.00 ticket where the fees are passed on to the buyer:
- $0.16 in Splash service charge fees
- $0.49 in Splash operational charges
- $0.61 in Stripe processing fees
In this case, the buyer pays $10.65 and your revenue is $9.39. A breakdown of the fees can be found inside each ticket type.
Fees and refunds
When an order is fully refunded, the Splash service fees associated with that order are also fully refunded. Stripe’s payment processing fees cannot be refunded.
If you complete a partial refund, then the Splash service fee will be partially refunded as well.
Non-profit (NPO) fees
As a non-profit organization (NPO) using a free Splash account, you’re eligible for the following discounted Splash fees:
- 2.90% + $0.30 in Stripe processing fees (contact Stripe for NPO discounts)
- 1.25% in Splash service charge fees
- $0.49 per ticket for Splash operational charges
NPOs on a paid Splash plan also receive discounted Splash fees:
- 2.90% + $0.30 in Stripe processing fees (contact Stripe for NPO discounts)
- 1.00% in Splash service charge fees
- $0.49 per ticket for Splash operational charges
To inquire about these rates, submit a request to Splash’s support team with your NPO's 501(c)(3) or Employee Identification Number (EIN).
Note: The NPO rate will not be applied retroactively. Any tickets that have already been sold prior to your application for the NPO rate will maintain Splash’s standard fee structure. |
Choose who pays the fees
You can decide to pass Splash’s service fees onto buyers or absorb these charges.
Note: Stripe’s payment processing fee cannot be passed onto the buyer. Stripe fees will be deducted from each transaction at the time of your payout. |
When you choose to pass Splash’s service fees onto buyers:
- The gross ticket price increases due to the addition of Splash’s fees.
- Splash’s service fees are still deducted, but they will be offset by the higher gross ticket price.
When you choose to absorb Splash’s service fees:
- The ticket price remains the same for the buyer.
- Splash’s service fees are deducted.
To decide who pays the fee:
- Click the Tickets tab.
- Click inside a ticket type.
- Locate the Pass Splash fees onto buyer dropdown.
Adjust the toggle to Absorb Splash fee if you prefer to take the Splash fee out of your ticket revenue.
