What can I embed using an iframe in Splash? Follow
By using Splash's iframe (Inline Frame) design element, you can host webinars, live streams, and more by embedding media in your Splash pages pre-, during-, or post-event.
The iframe element is accessible within the design of Splash Virtual Themes, available with the Basic package. An iframe element can also be added to any block using the advanced design tools with Professional and Enterprise packages.
Note: If you don't have advanced design access and can't therefore add an iframe Element, don't worry! It is very likely that the element is already into your Branded Themes (like Stream or Connect). Check with your program's Admin to learn more. |
Looking to track event attendance live? Host iframed content using the Virtual Event Page's Custom Embed option. Learn more about embedding with Virtual Event Page, including Zoom Meetings & Webinars, Vimeo, Facebook Live, YouTube, Sli.do, Pigeonhole Audience, and more.
What's an iframe?
Iframe elements display content from another website into a frame on the page. You can set the frame's width and height, but the content is determined by the provider website.
You also can't iframe raw content like an .mp4 video file to play on-page.
Videos and live streams hosted through media players are among the most popular iframed content, but you'll need to choose a provider that supports iframe embeds.
How do I know if a site can be iframed?
If you're planning to iframe content hosted by a media player, you'll often see a share icon that includes an embed code you can copy into Splash.
If you're displaying a website or custom content, please note some websites do not permit their websites to be iframed for security reasons - or have restrictions in place to view the content. If your third-party link is private or not secured with SSL, then the embed code you’re using could display errors in Splash.
Splash does not determine whether the content can be displayed, so we encourage you to thoroughly test all iframed content well before your event's launch.
If your content is hosted using an internal tool on your company's website, reach out to your IT team for their current policy. There are also free online tools available that help verify if URLs allow iframing by checking for popular security techniques.
Note: Our iframe elements do not support JavaScript or CSS styling. |
What should I use to iframe virtual content?
Ultimately, it's up to your marketing team's tech stack and event needs.
Boost engagement with Vimeo and YouTube, which offer chat features to keep your community active. Both offer virtual event resources like the YouTube Digital Events Playbook and live streaming with Vimeo.
Create one-on-one or group discussion circles for your virtual and hybrid events with Introvoke.
Reach out to your network with Facebook Live or LinkedIn Live for a community feel.
No matter what you use, our Virtual Events Guide has resources for all Splash features and integrations that keep your virtual events on-brand, connected, and measurable.
