Why Isn’t My Share Card Image Preview Showing on Social Media? Follow
Splash helps event organizers host the most exclusive events and keep their guest lists clear and concise by offering the option of private event pages.
We want to ensure your VIPs are treated as such, and that no details of your event are leaked in the process.
Social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter generate a preview of your share card, which includes images, titles, and descriptions.
If your event’s image preview isn’t showing up when you share it on social media, there could be several reasons, with one common issue being the event's Privacy Setting. It’s essential to check the event’s privacy setting, as it often affects whether social media platforms can access and display the preview correctly.
Private Event Privacy Settings
When an event is set to "Private," social media platforms cannot access or display its details, including the image preview. Private events are restricted to invited guests only, preventing external platforms from retrieving the necessary information to generate a preview.
Below is an example of what the Share Card looks like when the event is set to Private and shared on social media:
To ensure the image preview and other details are visible, you need to change the event’s privacy setting to "Public." This allows social media platforms to access and display the event details.
Below is an example of how the Share Card will appear on Facebook when the event is set to Public:
How to Change Event Privacy Settings
- Log into Your Splash Account.
- Select the Event you are working on.
- Click “Settings” on the left-hand side.
- Adjust Privacy Settings and set your event to "Public."
- Save Changes.

Test the Share Card
After updating the privacy settings, refresh your Share Card image to reflect the recent changes. For Facebook, use Facebook's Debugger Tool, and for LinkedIn, use the LinkedIn Post Inspector. After updating, test the Share Card and verify that the image preview appears.
Pro tip: You may need to click the refresh tools a couple of times!
