Salesforce Pardot Prospects Integration Guide Follow
Prospects are one of the core elements of Pardot, functioning as the primary way to learn more about the people who have interacted with your marketing campaigns. Information like first name, last name, email, company, and more are stored in Pardot, making it a one-stop shop of all your prospect insights.
With the Splash's Salesforce Pardot Prospects integration, guest registration and form responses automatically create and update prospect information in Pardot, all while associating your prospects with right campaigns.

To view the Salesforce connector in Pardot:
1. Log in to Pardot.
2. Click on Admin.
3. Select Connectors.
4. Confirm the Salesforce.com connector status is paused.
Adding the Salesforce Pardot Prospects integration
After the connector is paused in Pardot, you can move forward with adding the integration in Splash.
To add the integration:
1. Select Integrations from the left-hand navigation or within an event's settings.
Pro Tip: We recommend setting up Pardot Prospects on the organization-level for team-wide scaling and automation. |
2. Click New Integration.
3. Choose Salesforce Pardot Prospects.
4. Enter your Salesforce Pardot credentials.
Once your account is authenticated, you'll be directed back to Splash to configure the integration.
Configuring the integration
Next, we'll walk through the step-by-step process to configure your Salesforce Pardot Prospects integration. We'll start by entering the business unit ID.
Entering the business unit ID
Salesforce provides the following steps for locating your business unit ID:
1. Go to the Gear Icon > Setup.
2. Type Pardot Account Setup in the settings search bar and select Pardot Account Setup.
3. Copy the business unit ID(s) for the Pardot instance.
Follow the steps and enter the business ID in the provided field. After entering the business ID, click Save and refresh the page.
Note: Saving and refreshing after entering the business unit ID is required to populate the integration with your campaigns and custom fields. |
Selecting integration settings
The next section determines how prospects are managed. There are two routes you can take: update existing prospects or can create new ones.
If a prospect doesn't exist, Splash always creates one. If you want Splash to create a new prospect in Pardot every time the same guest registers for a new event in Splash, select Always create a new prospect.
Associating prospects with campaigns
Next, you'll associate your prospects with a campaign. The campaign dropdown will automatically import a list of your existing Pardot campaigns to choose from.
Naming the integration
You can choose to rename your integration by typing directly into the Integration Name field or leaving the name as is. We recommend entering a unique integration name if you plan on creating multiple configurations. This customization allows for easier navigation and organization of your integration suite.
Once you've settled on a name, move on to the trigger dropdown.
Defining when the integration will trigger
In the Trigger section, you'll establish the requirements to activate the integration.
Attendee is typically selected here since Splash attendees become prospects. The Actions dropdown provides a list of actions that need to happen to an attendee in order to trigger the integration.
For example, if you choose RSVP Yes, the integration triggers whenever a guest is marked as attending on an event.
Pro Tip: This dropdown is a multiple-select, allowing for several activities to trigger the integration. |
Setting trigger conditions
In the Trigger Conditions section, you can restrict the integration to activate for certain event types. Select any event types that apply or leave the checkbox unmarked to activate the integration for all event types.
Mapping Splash information to Pardot Prospects
Each of the fields in this section directly corresponds to one of the fields in the prospect's record in Pardot.
You'll start by selecting a Splash Object. The dropdown list is populated with the most relevant Splash information you'll want to send. if you don't see what you're looking for, choose Custom to create your own field mapping.
Next, you'll select a Splash field that corresponds with the Splash Object. This is the Splash information that will be mapped to the prospect's record in Pardot.
To finish it off, choose a remote field from Pardot that the information will be populated in. Clicking on the dropdown opens a list of available fields for prospects.
Note: The first field for prospects must always map the email address. |
Multiple fields can be mapped by clicking Add a Field below the last mapped field.
Repeat this process for each field until all of the relevant fields are mapped. Remove any unnecessary fields by clicking the minus symbol to the right of the field mapping.
Turning the integration on
Once all settings have been configured and saved, set the On/Off toggle at the top of the screen to On to activate the integration.
Testing the integration
Once the integration is toggled on, it's time to test that the integration is operating correctly in Splash and Pardot.
To test in Splash:
1. Create an example event in Splash by clicking on Create Event in the main Events Dashboard and fill out the form.
2. Add any form questions to the event that are also added as field mappings in the integration. Then, submit a test RSVP.
3. Navigate to the organization-level Integrations tab.
4. Open the Salesforce Pardot Prospects configuration and click Activity Log.
You'll see a log confirming the integration was triggered for the event. Clicking on the log reveals additional details.
To test in Pardot:
Now you can check to see if Pardot successfully created and mapped the prospect.
1. Starting in your Pardot instance, use the search bar at the top to search for the name of your test RSVP in Splash.
2. Click the prospect to opens up their record. This means the prospect was successfully created.
Scroll through the entry to ensure any mapped fields have also been associated with the prospect.
