When two guests are associated with the same email address, what happens when I make changes to one of those guests? Follow
How Splash Operates
In Splash, each contact is stored based on one unique identifier: email address.
Each contact has specific fields that are updated across the platform when changed within an event:
- First and Last Name
- Email Address
- Company
- Job Title
- Phone number
- City
- State
- Address
- Birthday
- Website
- Facebook display
- Twitter display
- Instagram display
If two guests have the same email address on the same event, even a test email, updating any of the above contact level information would update both RSVP's information - because the contacts are tied together in the backend.
Making changes to their event-level information (i.e. answers to custom questions) will only update on the one guest you are making changes on.
This is to maintain up-to-date contact info like Name, Company, and Job Title while powering features that show attendee tracking over time, like which events they've attended, their engagement levels, and being able to pull in answers to previous RSVP questions.
Have a question about your data? Reach out with the event's URL and specific guest info so our support team can take a look.
