Applying a redirect to an event page Follow
This feature is available to Pro and Enterprise plans |
A redirect allows you to automatically send guests who visit your event page to another Splash page or a different website.
We often see redirects used for annual or recurring events where a new page collects RSVPs and guests need to be rerouted. No matter the reason, setting up a redirect in Splash is a simple one-step process that ensures your guests are where they need to be.
On this page:
Applying a redirect
To set up a redirect, go to your Event Settings tab. At the bottom of that page, you'll find a space to enter the URL for your redirect.
As mentioned in the tooltip, the URL must be formatted to include the https:// or http:// protocol in order for the redirect to apply correctly. If you're redirecting your page to another Splash page, that page must already be created with the corresponding URL.
Pro Tip: Jot down the name of the event that you applied the redirect to in case you need to make any edits in the future. The only way to edit the redirect is by locating the original event from your Events Dashboard. |
After entering your URL, hit Save at the top of the page. If your browser is more tortoise than hare, it may take a few minutes for it to recognize the new URL. If it doesn't update within 10 minutes, we recommend confirming the formatting is correct and then clearing your cache to give it a fresh start.
Once the redirect is in effect, anyone who visits your event page will automatically be redirected and won't be able to access the original guest-facing URL of the event.
Editing or removing a redirect
While the guest-facing URL will be inaccessible to any guests who land on a redirected Splash page, the event itself will still be editable from your Splash account. A redirect can be edited or removed at any time within the Event Settings tab of an event.
Once a redirect is removed, the original event page will be accessible again to anyone who lands on it. If you notice your edited or removed redirect isn't taking effect, we recommend clearing your browser's cache to make sure the new data is being displayed.
Analytics for redirects
Since guests won't be landing on your original Splash page, all analytics will be automatically tracked on the redirect that's provided, whether that's in Splash or on an external site.
